Tablet with SIM or without SIM?

Hi all,
Good to know that, you came here with doubt of purchasing tablet with SIM or without SIM?
Why i'm telling this is, the same doubt i'm also had before, and because of that my mind oscillated lot for an perfect answer and not bought any one and got bored/irritated of searching good one for the last three months in internet.

Since we have internet in our fingertip, it is very easy for us to analyse well before purchasing any items in the market, but unfortunately it has its negative side also. No item in the market will suits your all your requirements. For some specifications, we need to sacrifice our self.  Due to extensive analysis in the internet, we will become so confused of selecting right one.

Lets comes to the point.
Nowadays laptop sales came down drastically because of 7/8 inch tablets. which can perform all basic functions of laptop. (Thanks google android !!!!!!).  So there are huge number of manufacturers are there and huge competitions are there in TABLET market.

Tablet with SIM or Without SIM?

I would prefer a tablet without SIM.

Why?  - 5 points:

1. Current situation in market, 3G enabled + good configuration tablets are costing more than 9.5 K Rs.

2. You can't carry the SIM enabled tablets everywhere.

"Even though SIM enabled in this tablet, you can't use this as a phone. battery in this tablet will not support for prolonged use" - from BSNL PENTA WS707C tablet user manual.

3.For price benefit, if you are choosing 2G enabled SIM means, what will be the browsing speed you will get?
maximum 40 kbps only (That too EDGE enabled tablet). with this speed you can't watch any videos and surfing will be damn slower.

4. Also if you are using SIM enabled tablet, battery consumption will be more for searching network and it won't last for more than 3 hours of continuous usage.

5. Do you think with 7 or 8 inch tablet, you will be holding in your and speaking through earpiece

6. As of now in india, 3G costs are too much high.
3G plan from Airtel:

So this much amount of money you need you use every month only for your tablet internet surfing. Is this really required?
If you are opt for 3G enabled tablets, without these plans what you are going to do? What is the necessary to buy one with SIM?

Why i'm suggesting tablet without SIM? - 5 points:

1. You will be getting tablets with very good configuration, very low price while compared SIM enabled tablets.

2. Long lasting battery backups. ->More reading, -> More playing, -> More thinking. -> More enjoy.

3. Since it doesn't have SIM, while travelling i have forced read some Pdf's and some ebooks. This is very good, because if SIM is there means, i might have enabled the network connectivity and used the facebook and twitter.

4. Even though you are purchasing tablet with SIM for network connectivity, you cant take this tablet with you all the time, all the events like carrying mobile.

5. If tablet has SIM facility means, you can't use 3G dongles into it (many are saying the same thing).
Most of the tablets which doesn't has SIM, providing option for 3G dongles. (CDMA/GSM dongles)

How i'm managing network connectivity in my tablet which doesn't have SIM facility?

1. I have wi-fi access in my home. So i am going to use it fully.

2. I have Samsung mobile which has 3G enabled SIM. Any emergency, i will be enabling the network in my mobile, and turn-on the wifi hotspot. thats it. I'm going to enjoy the network connectivity in my tablet continuously.

3. I have wi-fi access in my office too.

4. I have 3G dongles which i can use it in my laptop, Home desktop and to my Tablet too.

So based on these factors i have decided to buy tablet without SIM.

I have did some comparison for 3G tablet, 2G tablet, and Tablet without SIM.

In that tablet without SIM facility has very good processor speed, High Ram, graphics processor, and battery back up.

3G tablets:
Most of the tablets having 512MB ram, only 1GHZ processor and costly (above 9K Rs)

2G tablet:
http://www.pantel.in/tablet/t-pad-ws707c.html => it has very good configurations. But since it is 2G and battery backup is very low (only 3000mAh) i have not decided to take this.

Tablet without SIM:
This is what i have purchased form homeshop18 website.
Website: http://www.homeshop18.com/karbonn-smart-tab-8-velox-tablet-black/computers-tablets/tablets/product:30795631/cid:16327/?pos=1

After flat 15% discount i got it for Rs 5346 only (3 month EMI).

Pretty cheap right? see the configuration.

1. http://www.karbonnmobiles.com/product_tablet_details.php?tabid=9

2. http://www.gsmarena.com/karbonn_smart_tab_8-5215.php

Advantages:
1. 3MP back camera and VGA front camera for video calling.
2. 1.5 GHz Dual core processor

3. Dual core Graphics card for processor
4. 1GB DDR3 RAM
 5. 1024 x 768 pixels, 8.0 inches (~160 ppi pixel density) - HD display
4. 4500mAh battery
5. Latest Android 4.1.1 jelly bean
6. 3D sensor for good gaming experience.
7. Bluetooth 2.0
8. HDMI port  (cable not included)
9. Supports 3G dongles.
10. 4:3 form factor display - good for reading ebooks, browsing, reading magazines, journals, and pdf files.

Even though it has these much huge advantages in configuration, it has disadvantages too..

1. It has mini USB not micro USB. => nowadays all are moved to Micro USB. I don't why these guys came with mini USB.

2. 4:3 for factor not giving very good experience watching Videos.

3. Some times its hangs. all apps are supporting and functioning well. But still have some little doubt of games capability in this tablet.

Bottomline:

Anyway i'm a guy having more fashion towards reading habit, This tablet suits me 99.99%. (Nothing can fulfill anyone requirements 100% :-)  #LOL )

This is my point of view.

Do comment if you are having anything to share.

Thanks.
